Communication Building a Full-Time Trading Path – Need Insights & Resources

Hey folks,

I’m in the early stages of developing a solid trading methodology with the goal of becoming a full-time professional trader (day trading focused).

Right now, my approach centers around orderflow and market structure, with plans to dive deeper into macro, explore multiple markets, and currently focused on indices (S&P 500 & Nasdaq) + options.

Trading is my long-term career path—I'm a person with disability, so this is my full-time commitment and future livelihood.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on:

  1. Building a solid, flexible trading methodology
  2. Choosing markets & adapting to ever-changing conditions
  3. Evolving into a full-time trader
  4. Mistakes to avoid or key lessons from your journey
  5. Go-to courses, books, or resources that helped you

Any insights would mean a lot. Thanks in advance!

One thing to realise is everyone’s path is unique. So even if someone shares what worked for them, you won’t necessarily be able to follow it and achieve identical results.

Another thing is that it’s a lifelong journey. So don’t expect to know everything at once. The first goal is to get one repeatable strategy that works and execute it as part of a process. Then you have a foundation and can build/improve upon it.

I don’t want to re-write what I’ve already written in other threads but you can find some stuff there for course recommendations.

Beyond courses and books etc. the other thing is to actually do the work. People think trading as a job means you’re literally buying and selling all day - that’s (most likely) just gambling.

The “work” comes from the research, the strategy development, learning how to use your tools, software, collecting data and statistics, learning history, observing the news, keeping a track of your thoughts, observations and evolving awareness of what’s going on in the world around you (ideation).

Trading Psychology 2.0 (it’s a book) is a good one to read as it helps breakdown the various aspects of trading.

Also this videos pretty good at sharing someone’s actual journey

Wish you the best of luck
